Heat a skillet over high heat with a splash of oil.

Pro-Tips for Perfect Shabu Shabu

  • Cook Vegetables First: Add your cabbage, mushrooms, tofu, and carrots to the broth ahead of time. They take longer to cook and will naturally flavor the broth before you start dipping your beef.
  • Skim the Foam: As you cook the beef, you’ll notice a gray foam (scum) floating to the top of the broth. Use a fine-mesh skimmer to scoop this out periodically to keep your soup clean and sweet.
  • Sauce is Mandatory: Traditional Shabu Shabu meat is unmarinated. The flavor comes from dipping the freshly cooked, hot meat directly into Ponzu (citrus soy sauce) for a bright, clean bite, or Goma-tare (creamy sesame sauce) which pairs beautifully with rich, fatty beef.

Have yet to try and cook it. I have been searching high and low for some Wagyu beef slices. Most of the supermarkets I went to only sell those that come in cubes.

I stumbled across this shop, where I found this product by chance. One piece alone is big enough, where I can just slice or cut it and cook it together with some veggies. With a pack, it can probably last for a few days depending on how much I cook it for.

Anyway, the delivery service was quick and prompt. Received my order today as soon as I made a purchase yesterday. 💯👍

Many many repeated purchase but have been repeatedly disappointed recently. Delivery is supposed to be 11-6pm. Item came at 750pm even when I specifically reminded the seller for the delivery not to be late this time.
